You took the words right out of my mouth, bbhero.

I went back to WM today to check the price and found out it was all gone or possibly removed from the shelves. Dang, I should have checked yesterday.

At some point we might find out some actual specs on the oil too ... Walmart already sells a $50/Gallon motor oil and it does not carry every "badge" you might need ....

So it does have the anti-theft gadget thingy... hilarious!

I saw it at my local WalMart in Cedar Park last night and didn't originally find this thread. They started stocking the shelves with all the new Extended Performance oil filters a couple of weeks ago, but just put the AP oil up this week. I still don't see the justification for the nearly 2x price over M1 Extended Performance.

Here's Kurt Busch's new M1 AP car:

Maybe they are expecting a huge rush of Busch fans hustling over to WM to buy the oil at an exorbitant price after they see the new car?

They also had that anti-theft device on 5qt jugs of Shell Rotella T6 going for $21.xx when I was there last week, (all one or two of them left on the shelf, that is.) This week, they were all out!

I'm not betting, I am flat out GUARANTEEING that if this oil sits at its current $50 price point, they will sell like dead flies. This oil will sell worse than green bottle NextGen did. Bring on the clearance sales!! Whatever IDIOT came out with this pricing structure should be immediately fired. As in yesterday. Because they are a MORON. Have they never walked around a Wal-Mart before and seen the shopping demographic of a Wal-Mart store?

More of this oil will be stolen than actually sold.

It's mostly a marketing strategy to elevate the average Walmart shoppers opinion of the M1 brand and to make the other M1 oils seem like a bargain.

The EP's 15k oil change interval no longer seems a big deal to the average skeptic, nor does it seem expensive.

We've already have a few here comment on how the EP is good enough for them at $29 which is a small but significant increase over where it often has been at.

This $50 oil does not need to sell. It and it's price tag just needs visibility and space on Walmart shelves.

Unicorn tears have become exorbitantly expensive. I'm surprised you guys didn't know that.

Historically, Walmart would quickly kick to the curb any product that was just taking up shelf space and not moving. But you may be right, there may be some more complex strategy behind it this time.

Haha I was about to totally agree with you but then I realized they're probably too stupid to know the difference between Mobil 1 and Supertech :P They'll just steal the Supertech out of sheer stupidity haha

Sorry for the crooked image. Posted it with my phone.

There wasn't a label created for it, but it was shelved with EP.

Only it sounds like they were not supposed to put it out yet - with the hundreds of Walmart stores nationwide - the odds are some will put the horse before the cart ...

So the $28.68 price in your photo is incorrect?

Some point to this ? several of them (this one too) sponsor F1 racing, specific reams (Corvette and others) as well ...
