New Mobil 1 Advanced Clean

My guess is this is their rebranded Mobil 1 Extended Performance GF-7/SQ oil and they boosted the cleaning (SDS did change) but marketed it as "Advanced Clean" due to Valvoline Restore and Protect. Doesn't sound like it has the ability to clean piston deposits, which may be exclusive to Valvoline being it is proprietary. With that said it still appears to be very good and preventing deposits in the first place is where you want to be.
Im thinking mobil 1 is being reformulated for SQ/GF7

First thing I noticed was all of the Ford Specifications up & down the sheet. 😄

Seems like Mobil 1 is trying to compete with Valvoline Restore and Protect. It will be interesting to learn if the cleaning ability actually competes?
If there’s any company that has the R&D ability & funding to create “miracle” oils, it’s XOM. Whether or not they decide if it makes business sense is up to them.

No XW40, no mention of cleaning pistons, pass for now................. :(
Xw40 is pretty much only a Euro formula viscosity, I don't think they've ever offered any specialty versions of Euro Oils since to meet their baseline specs they're essentially and Extended Performance oil, then trying to break it out into High Mileage or other varieties would be attempting to split and already small market niche into even smaller categories, and 10W40 has been declining in popularity for years Mobil 1 only offers it in HM variety and it probably sells in lower volumes than even the Euro oils at this point.

• Cleans your engine in one oil change

That is not a really good thing because quick cleaning can cause myriad of issues after that.
Valvoline Restore and Protect is designed to clean slowly and hence - the minimum 4 OCI.

Sludge not piston deposits.
I also believe the one oil change claim isn’t new.

That could very well be the reason, but there are a lot of vehicles on the road that run 5w40 oils with engines that need cleaning. My bet is if Valvoline and Mobil were to offer it, it would sell.

This could up being on closeout in one or more of the big chain parts stores in the not so distant future if it bombs............ Food for thought.

This is why I don't hoard oils. Technology keeps advancing.
Earlier today changes my Wife's 2014 Acura RDX with Mobil 1 Annual Protection.

Purchased the Mobil 1 Annual Protection OOA DEC 2019 at numerous AutoZones in Salt Lake City for $1 per quart. I sleep well at night using this oil after sitting in a plastic container for six +/- years. Wife drives about 2k miles annually (maybe a lot less), I change the oil in her Acura ever six-nine months.

Lots of Valvoline Restore and Protect fans on BITOG. I haven't seen anything that would influence me to change to a newly released oil, over my stash.
