New Mobil 1 Advanced Clean

My guess is this is their rebranded Mobil 1 Extended Performance GF-7/SQ oil and they boosted the cleaning (SDS did change) but marketed it as "Advanced Clean" due to Valvoline Restore and Protect. Doesn't sound like it has the ability to clean piston deposits, which may be exclusive to Valvoline being it is proprietary. With that said it still appears to be very good and preventing deposits in the first place is where you want to be.
Perhaps akin to PUP : Advanced Clean best used from the start in a new car or a vehicle that has gone 4 to 5 OCI’s using Valvoline Restore and Protect.

Doesn’t one of the new API SQ test is piston cleanness ? I get Valvoline Restore and Protect was first but it’s not an exclusive thing all these new oils being formulated to the SQ spec will be doing the same thing .

Piston deposit testing has always been part of the API testing via Sequence IIIH test. Euro oils use a different test. Valvoline Restore and Protect is the only known oil currently made that can remove piston deposits back to 100% OE cleanliness. Preventing them is something they all do and to different levels. Cleaning them is exclusive to Valvoline Restore and Protect at this point until proven otherwise.

There's also possibility that EM figured out what Valvoline Restore and Protect has in it and made their own version or has some of that/those ingredients in it.

If you listen to what they say between .30 seconds and .50 seconds you'll get it. This little distinction is important and of confusion to most people.

But better oils prevent deposits in the first place so.....

Anything less than a new Mobil 1 , SOPUS , etc. oil stating “returns pistons to OE cleanliness” is not up to Valvoline Restore and Protect cleaning levels … Just stating sludge removal in one OCI or using vague marketing cleaning terms will not do .

Just curious; If this PDS wasn't on Mobil site, where was it located? Thanks
I found it in their PDS search function. Alot of times new products appear there and on the SDS search function months before they ever make it to market, but most dont make it to market. 2-3 years ago they had Mobil 1 brake fluid and mobil 1 powersteering fluid and those are all gone now. The PS fluid was 80-90% pao on the sds

I really like Mobil products, but I find it interesting that this new product seems to have the same marketing as Extended Performance. EP also claims to “clean sludge in one oil change” and last 20,000 miles. I wonder if this will be sold alongside EP as a test to see if it outsells EP based on the “Clean” name, to see if that’s what catches consumer attention the most, and then perhaps this would replace EP on the shelf altogether.

Cannot find anything about this oil online, besides this BITOG thread from June 2025:

Looking at the image above (post #51) it looks like a new/another name for what people on here call Mobil 1 vanilla or Mobil 1 regular Full Synthetic oil. Most likely they replaced the "Keeps your engine running like new" with "Advanced Clean".
https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-vehicles/our-products/products/mobil-1-5w-30
What you’re looking for in a motor oil:
  • Advanced Full Synthetic formula
  • Go 10,000 miles between oil changes
  • Helps extend engine life, even in severe conditions
  • 10x better high temperature protection
  • Extra additives to help fight sludge

If it's something new, it will be on the Mobil website. Since it's not there, that tells me it's just rename of an existing product. The vanilla series was missing 0W-20 and they just decided to add it and repackage 5W-20 and 5W-30 as well.

No oil jug image, though.

Mobil is not very quick with adding products to the website
