New Mobil 1(108-A) made in Vietnam C&P

Purchased at Walmart for $11.44.

Definitely gives me Pentius vibes to be honest. Most likely VAFI built(made in Vietnam). Some models are made in South Korea. A little extra glue but otherwise a high quality build. Much better than the previous M+H made M1 filters. Highline Warren is handling the warranty on these.

Tomorrow I’ll cut out the media and get measurements.

More expensive than all the PG based ones, and no silicone gasket like they all have.

$2 more is not that much. No USA made filter uses a silicone base gasket I can think of, but other types like coated nitrile and ethylene acrylic.

US made filters such as Purolator, WIX, M+H Mobil 1, FRAM Endurance/RP/Amsoil, etc have all been using Non-Silicone based gaskets for a very long time.

And I do not know about you but I personally have not seen of any report of failures even with people pushing 20,000 miles on some of those filters and multiple years of use, so while I am sure there is benefits to a silicone gasket the real question is do those benefits ever come in to play and just looking at the history of oil filters it doesn't seem like it.

So in my view this is no other then a move for PG to be different and have their filters stand out and seem more Premium based on looks alone, it just so happens they also have solid build quality and good QC.

I will be using the South Korea made Mobil 1 M1-101A not because of a gasket but because of build quality and QC that First Brands is starting to slack on.

Highline Warren owns Prime Guard, correct me if Im wrong? So this is just a rebadged Prime Guard?

Also, are premium guard and ecogard the same? The search tool on each of their websites is exactly the same, so I was curious if they were owned by the same company.

Highline Warren and Prime Guard Inc have no association with each other. Been discussed a few times before. Their oil filters have very similar construction, and could be made in some of the same factories.

Highline Warren owns Service Champ. Which is PGI made. So they’ve worked together before. Premium Guard(PGI NY owned) and Highline Warren have headquarters in Memphis TN. Both also have engineers and r&d in Massachusetts. I believe Zee is correct when saying Highline skipped the middle man(PGI) and went right to VAFI factories.

^^^ Highline Warren also uses some factory in S. Korea too for some of the new Mobil 1 filter.

Mobil has VAFI CAFI, or whoever makes it, put a nitrile gasket on, it looks like it would be nitrile. It wouldn’t be to save money, it may even cost more money. Color me cautious on VAFI CAFI everything is so wonderful. I don’t see their test labs for efficiency, burst, etc, like Fram has.
99%@20 microns, there I can write it too.

I’m sorry Purolator lied about efficiency. Good thing we caught them!!

You got all your data from Purolator information. And you call it lying? I wish VAFI CAFI or whatever it is called, could send you what Purolator was honest enough to send you. A pic of their test lab at least and some demos like our Fram does.

Call it "misinformation" ... the kind word for lying. 🙃 Regardless, the info on the Purolator website didn't match the official Spec Sheets that the Pres of M+H said was the best and accurate info.

Maybe “embellishment” would have been a better choice 🤣

Not any form of lying, only an unintentional mistake. The office staff didn’t send anything different intentionally. Now they don’t send anything, and I don’t blame them.
Ask the Pres why the One is still 99%@20 microns on the site if he says the sheets are the best and most accurate.

They probably should have been sending out those Spec Sheets from the beginning.

Because the Pres wasn't told there was also a discrepancy with the Purolator ONE. We have the Spec Sheet for the referenced ONE PL30001, and it's not 99% @ 20u like shown on the website page. Only the misinformation on the Boss was pointed out. I highly doubt the Pres of M+H wants to be caught publishing misinformation, and why he had the Purolator website changed to match the Spec Sheet for the Boss.
