I just purchased a (new) Metallic Black vehicle (silly me)...

Just wondering what you black vehicle owners are using for the best protection against UV and water spot/bird dropping etching in the paint surface.
thanks for your feedback

I have a black vehicle, and to tell the truth, there's not a magic bullet for bird droppings. The best thing to do is wash stuff off as soon as possible, and keep it polished.

Smashed bugs are what really shows up on mine, right around the front hood area. The summer heat cooks them right into the paint, making them almost impossible to get out.....

Shoot, the heat is what kills me most about having a black car. It's like an oven if it sits for any length of time in the summer sun. As for water spots and bugs, I haven't really had an issue with that, I just autodry it and everything is fine. A good quality wax after it is washed and dried should take care of waterspots and protect it from most things, until it needs another application.

However, it didn't protect my entire front end, windshield, side mirrors (basically anything front-facing) from high speed debris, however. My windshield is pocked with lots of very small damage from 90MPH highway debris.

Thankfully it doesn't see much of that anymore, but the damage is done. One day it'll need a repaint, but a GOOD job with proper prep work, etc, is not cheap.

As for birds, I find conventional bullets kill them well enough.

This black is tough brother...kicking myself everyday!
I looked for silver, but no one had any in a 06 5 speed. I should have waited.
I've been using NXT and personally I don't think it's all that. Sure it shines, but I feel the protection level is marginal at best.

Good quality car shampoo, clay magic Claybar, polish, Klasse Sealant Glaze.
Good Microfiber towels.
Do the wash and Klasse every couple of days to layer 3 times, the time in between allows the glaze to crosslink with the layer below it.
After 3 layers, you may top it with the carnuba of your choice for a deep look. Carnuba doesn't layer very well.
Also, the carnuba will evaporate pretty quickly in the sun, within a week or so.
A quality spray liquid speed wax can be a good alternative as long as it has no cleaners in it (chemical or otherwise).
The Klasse will be good for 6 months or more.
Klasse will not stain plastic mouldings and has no buff off dust.

I have written it before and I will write it again.

Some day.

Oh...... heckaroo.... I will do it NOW!!!!!!!

Liquid Glass to protect thine vehicles paint.

No snobbery hereabouts at the shanty on the withered plains of the cultural backwater of Nebraska where the elements wear away at auto finishes and the salt-laden roads of winter attack metal.

Liquid Glass is what rough tough men rely upon.

i have a black honda prelude that still looks pretty new. its 5 years old. people still ask me if i just recently repainted my car. I wash my car every week with zaino. it has some kind of antistatic to it. it helps keep the dust off, not 100 percent but there is a significant difference. Everything I use is zaino. if you buy the 90 dollar package for zaino it has everything u need. It lasts forever so its really an investment.im not going to lie though, I have left over meguiar polish and clay bar that i still use on scratches and stuff. i here klasse has really good stuff, but since zaino working for me ill stick to it. if it aint broke, dont fix it

Thanks for the feedback thus far. I've tryed Liquid Glass back in the late 80's and didn't feel it was all that great.
I'm hearing some pretty good feedback about Zaino and Klasse. And as I mentioned above the NXT offers up a great shine however don't feel the protection level is all that great.
I should have left the new black car in the showroom.

Also have a black car.

For bird droppings, I use an old dish detergent bottle (any large bottle with a pop-up squirt top will do) filled with water in the back seat. As soon as I notice any droppings I break out the bottle and hose down the car. That holds me over 'till I can get to wash it. It leaves water spots, but they're better than droppings.

It also was handy when I noticed a gob of ketchup on my car. Savages!
