Wasn't sure where to post this...but I'm glad this board exists.

Item no 290023795509

I have just secured an older style Canton-Meca Fuel filter .

Ebay item 290023795509

My queston is:

Will the current Canton fuel filter elements fit this canister? It is 5 & 1/8 tall.

If not, is there a filter element people can recommend that will work?

Give it time, Moparmal. There are a few here that have experience with Canton. Hit up the search feature. I'm pretty sure that you'll dig up something.

I'll start you off. Just search in the Filters section to save time.

Appreciate the help Gary...unfo my question is very specific to the size of the cannister....so i guess I need someone to look at the pic. of the one I bought and tell me if they think the current CM filters will fit it.

I tried emailing Canton but no reply...that may be because the email didn't go thru because of the pic. I attached.

I might try again with just a request for them to check a pic hosted on Putfile, and go from there.........

If it helps, here is a pic of the cannister, does anyone on the board have an opinion on whether the current CM filters will work in this?

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I just stumbled upon it while looking for something else.

The 2006 Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies catalogue shows the complete Canton filter line. (The 2007 catalogue no longer has this info.) It appears that there are only two sizes of replacement element, 2.62" (66.5 mm) and 4.62" (117.4 mm) lengths, with no differentiation made btween old/new, remote/spin-on, or any other parameter. So it appears you would simply order the 4.62" element, which was Pegasus part No. 1292 if still available from there.

Pegasus sold a clamp and a replacement cap for older round filter housings like Moparmal's, and a rebuild seal kit for older four-bolt style spin-on filters, so if these older filters used different elements, Pegasus would probably have listed and sold them. It appears that the filters have remained the same.
