I was looking to pick one up as it’s on clearance for my mother and started searching for the boxes dimensions to see if it would fit seats down in the vehicle I have along…
but the bloody thing is 100lbs like a CRT.

What happened? One of my relatives has a moderately old 75” lcd and besides being awkward was feather light (at least I thought it was when I moved it around compared to my set at the time)

Seems like we are going backwards, might as well grab a plasma if I’m gonna tote 100lbs.

6 feet 3 inches of screen.. wow that's a big one. But something that size, they may have put in a metal frame to prevent the screen from flexing. Definitely something that could happen with a span that large. I remember they were getting rid of metal frames around laptop screens because it would make them cheaper to product. Wondering if they did that here?

I also wonder if it was the more expensive display that was heavier, be interesting to see the spec sheets of the higher priced models.. might be heavier...

LCDs are light. led/oled/*insert letter* led weigh more. The difference of weight for the 32" 4k oled I ordered for a coworker compared to a 32" lcd was surprisingly different.

A basic 75" LCD will be fairly light, if a bit awkward, but once you start adding things like backlight zones, screen layers, fancy internal audio, cooling, etc. the weight adds up quickly.

That being said, I would have thought a 77" OLED would weigh more than a premium 75" LED set but that's actually not the case. A 77" Sony A95L OLED weighs 81.3 lbs with it's stand, whereas a 75" Sony Bravia 9 LED weighs just shy of 100 lbs fully dressed.

Research and git what you wanna tote. Fixed.

It may have something to do with the tech the TV is utilizing e.g. OLED, QLED or Mini LED. Also, I ran into a video basically saying OLED screens degrade the fastest out of the three while initially offer best image. 75 inches is quite a size.
i have a lg c1 from 2021, gaming, movies, news, all day every day, zero degrade or burn in.

Speaking of heavy CRT TV. I had a 20" color TV in my basement back in the 1990's. Then "The Incredible Universe" came to Denver. They put the 32" Sony on sale as a grand opening deal for $750. It was a "gut buster" 150lbs. A buddy helped me carry it downstairs and it just fit where the 20" sat. My present TV is a 65" Samsung weighs 65lbs. I hoisted up by myself. I got it in 2017 and it cost $1400 from Sam's Club. It has 6" blue squares in the background. The motherboard quit working 2 years ago and the volume is stuck at 34. I got an Amazon Firestick to get back on the Internet. I keep waiting for it to die.

10 or 15 years ago I remember reading this article about a new iPhone, forget what #.... BLUF: the changed the designed and actually made it heavier on purpose as it improved the consumers perception of quality. Does this apply to a TV that gets mounted on a stand/wall? IDK

My parents used to have a 32" Sony tube TV. Glad I was younger back then to help move it...

Speaking of LG have you heard about the new spyware they're installing on PCs and TVs? I'm sure this has been active for some time now.
