Hey guys, traded in my 2015 5045e this week for a brand new 5100e with cab and 4x4. I swapped my 520m loader to the new tractor as it was like new and saved me $5800. I also was already equipped with a single point hydraulic connector and didn’t want to spend the $ to add it to the new tractor so I reused mine. The 5045 was a 2015 and had around 400 hours on it. Our farming operations are requiring more horsepower and my parents weren’t in a position to make a purchase like this. It will be running a JD 275 disc mower on a caddy, raking hay, moving hay, light pasture clipping with a 10’ brush hog and eventually a 15’ brush hog. I have a pretty nice old 2-105 White that is set up to run the baler but this can be a backup for that duty too. I was sure sad leaving the 5045 behind as it was the first new tractor I ever bought but can’t afford or store both of them inside.

That's one fine looking tractor! Similar in HP to a 4020 that I spent so many hours running when I was a kid. Tractors have come a LONG way.

The International cab-over, just like the one that delivered your tractor, is the first semi I ever drove. In Iowa you only need an operator's license to operate any farm plated vehicle on the road. So there I was, a 16 year old kid, running 80,000 pounds down the road. The 855 Cummins was rated at something like 260HP, which by today's standards is gutless. The 10 speeds Road Ranger was strange to learn, but a total no brainer to shift once you get the concept of only using the clutch to get started. In fact, if you touch the clutch while moving, you desyncronize the transmission and have to come to a complete stop before you can get it back into gear.

That cabover and trailer are actually mine. The dealers transportation department was over a week out on delivering it and I didn't want to wait. It has a Series 60 11.1L Detroit and 9 speed. I haul my farm equipment, track loader and whatever else I need to.

I too have spent several hours running and repairing old 4020s, not many people still using them in our area but they sure are solid.

I love deeres the only small issue I have is
thats alot of $$$ for made in Pune, Maharashtra, India

I could really use your old tractor on the farm to replace the deere 850 we are currently mowing the bulk of the fields with.

The 5075 is the break for the India built machines. 5085 and up are built in Georgia. I was reserved when I bought the 5045 being foreign built but you would not believe how solid it is/was. My salesman would make you a deal on it I'd bet and can probably arrange transportation for it.

Thats even better, my eyeballs let me down on that one 🙂

Just noticed tractordata was right.. must have been looking at the tab for your old one (had both open at same time)

My understanding is that the engines are all foreign being Yanmar but the tractors are all built in Georgia. I have a 2019 1025r as well. Super versatile machine. I bought it for the loader and backhoe. I have a 757 ZTR to do the mowing.

I have a Kubota L3000DT I would sell for a fair price. No FEL. 😃

Long ago post but finish mower. mow about 10 acres at the Cabin its abit lumpy for a zero turn.

Current mower is a JD 850. with a 261 rear Deck. 60" it gets the job done but nothing great.

4th gear is slow 5th can be too fast if its been 2 weeks.
I want to say 4th is around 2.7mph and 5th is 4.1 mph from memory.

also have a deere 316 with 5000+ hours on it that does trails, the around cabin area and some areas where the 850 tears up the dirt/ alot of maneuvering easier with the hydro trans in the 316.

Nice tractor!
There’s a guy near me who has a 5045D for sale. It has 345 hours on it. I think he’s asking a little too much for it. He wants $15,200 for it. Is that a fair price?
I am basically looking for something without the newer EPA requirements. No DEF and no regeneration.
I let someone beat me to a New Holland T55.

In today’s market I think that is fair if it’s really clean.

@MParr I should elaborate a little more, I wouldn’t be afraid of the John Deere emissions systems especially ones like that 5045e of mine had. They have it pretty well figured out. Mine had no DEF system only a DPF that did a regen twice in the years I had it. It’s not something you should be afraid of. My 5100e does have DEF and so far no issues.

I had some experience with the older JD regenerative tractors. They seemed to work well. I may continue looking for something a little older and a little smaller. Massey-Ferguson, JD, New Holland, Ford, Kubota with a 30 hp minimum PTO horsepower and hydrostatic drive.
That 5045D is pretty clean.

It’s a pretty clean tractor. I think a hydrostatic drive would be a better option for me.
Here’s the tractor. Well, I was going to attach a picture but, that function isn’t working for me.
