I applied for new health insurance today and gave detailed responses on my health condition.
Price was bad but hey it is what it is. I always had insurance my whole life.
Well it came with a $10,000 life insurance policy. I told them several times I did not want it.
I buried my dad in November and $10K would have paid for about nothing. sorry but it's the truth.

She told me if I didn't take it, the cost would be the same regardless. Most likely a scam.
So okay I took it. She told me a person from the life insurance would call and verify. Which they did now.
We got to the health questions and the phone call came to an abrupt stop... lol

They refused me the crummy $10K life insurance. I was so sad..............
I heard the manger in the background actually say- uh h-ell no!
Stupid! lol

Wow I lost a whole $10K of worthless life insurance and it was only $52.54 a month. Yikes!

So you are mad they potentially were offering you free life insurance and then happy you were denied due to medical history

Life insurance is a good idea especially if you die.

The only life insurance I have ever had was term insurance. Any other flavor just does not make sense. Sales people that push those other flavors are worse than vacuum cleaner salesman. They tell these fantastic whoppers and have statistics that are pure fantasy.

Term coverage is simple and to the point, die and you collect, live and get nothing.

There are nicer ways to tell someone they are gonna die. Actuaries and their calculators are grim reapers.

It's too bad more parents aren't smart enough to have everything prepaid. Both my parents had their final expenses paid for-it cost them less than $3,000 each (mom died in 2013 and dad died a couple months ago). Both my wife and I also have all of our final expenses taken care of-again around $3,000 for each of us (cremation and a very limited funeral service).

Both of my parents signed up to have their remains given to University of Minnesota. With my fathers Alzheimer's maybe some good will come. Cost 0. You can get the ashes after their done. Signed the papers last week.

No I just wanted my $740 a month health insurance without the upsell. Honestly I don't see why this is so hard to comprehend. I was up front with them right from the start. Think about it, people paying these kind of rates for insurance don't need $5k of worthless life insurance. Note, they called back and offered $5k for the same price. Lol

I did get far better health insurance though. Zero copay.

My aunt and uncle did as you say in the 70's and my aunt is still around and as you note it was rather inexpensive. I think many people just think that if they do nothing it will all go away.

For cremation, go directly to crematorium rather than thru a funeral home. Cost me $1200 for my Mom and we held
memorial at her church. Funeral home charge was over $2000, plus they try to talk you into an urn for $500 that was about $125 at crematorium.

Yes I do. And besides the obvious I told everybody and told them absolutely no deviation for which I have seen many times.

^This.

My parents have had their plots picked out for decades now. Ironically, about 2 months before Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he decided to finish the process and bought the caskets and pre-paid for his and Mom's service. Things were stressful enough when the time came, but thank goodness we didn't have to decide on *everything* involved. And we don't have to decide for Mom whenever that time comes.

In addition, I was able to buy the plots next to theirs at that time, so while I don't have the arrangements paid yet, I do own the plots. Only piece of land I own outright.

We all gotta' go sometime. Might as well have a say in how.

I'd like to echo the sentiment. IIRC it sounded like he was active until the end.

I read this article a few years ago, and it left a lasting impression on me. The author winds up having to deal with his father's and father-in-law's death at nearly the same time; it contrasts two funerals, one a low(er) cost home funeral, the other a more traditional one. I think it's a good read. If I didn't have such a small house I'd be tempted to put into my will to have my wake at home, a sort of last party for me, surrounded by all my stuff and in my familiar haunt, and hopefully a good time for those left grieving.

Yes they did ask several Aids questions too.........
But when you think about pre-existing conditions...... well you know.
