There is still a gear set in an electric car. If it loses/breaks some teeth it will need to be fixed/replaced.
We have two in the household and we love them. Zero complaints here.

Oh wow, that answers my question. They did have issues with the CVT.
That CR link doesn't even mention the Rio. It's as if it doesn't exist. Not that there is any doubt in my mind that their CVT has issues...

That's true, i even forgot about it. Hopefully for H/K it's a fine-tune situation and not a chronic issue. The early DCT had issues as well, but their in-house AT and stick-shifts have all been solid.
