I suppose it's a difference between decimal and binary prefixes. Hard drive manufacturers typically use decimal while Windows uses binary. And it looks like Mac OS uses decimal prefixes as well, which would explain why the numbers are larger.

When I shopped mine, it would have cost more in the end to buy tower+monitor+decent speakers. That's why UI chose an AIO. This, and it clears up a lot of desk space -- which is very limited for us. I agree the the touchscreen feature is very gimmicky, and adds little/no value to a home pc. That's not why I picked it.

I still like a custom built tower computer when it comes to PCs. You can get exactly what you want and better quality components.

Macs are so expensive I would have to buy an iMac and not a Mac Pro. The Mac Pro (cheapest one) is about twice as expensive as the cheapest iMac.

For those that have these all-in-one's would you say they're kid friendly.. if setup right anyways? Thinking about getting one for 4 year old who's already computer savy but need something he can do a few pre-k studies. The only alternative since they waited to the last minute to tell us.. and I could say why he didn't get in but Helen would kick me off this forum.

Probably stick with HP as that's all we have and never had any issues. We have Lenovo's at work though with the same luck. Can't decide on the touchscreen.. those used to be nothing but junk. Opinions? And no I'll never build another computer in my lifetime.

Our kids (7 & 11) have been doing fine on ours. I've hinted that they should avoid the "touching" part -- as I don't want greasy hands all over the screen every day. As stated above, I didn't buy it for the "touch" part.

A word of caution though -- for small kids. I've also told my kids not to load CDs/DVDs by themselves. Luckily, all their games/programs run off the HD, and they don't need the original disks. That's the only thing I was worried about when I purchased. The whole CD/DVD tray comes out the side. You then have to seat/snap your disk onto the mechanism. If not held/supported properly, I could see this breaking easily. I wish it would simply have a slot (like MAC, or auto CD player) to stick the DVD in, and then it ejects it.
