I just saw the new Havoline at local Walmart in NW Indiana. Price was $2.16, same as old version next to it. I thought it was going to be much higher, anybody else see the stuff and how much??

At my local W-M, they did not have the 'Deposit Shield' quarts on the shelf yet, but did have the new formula in the big jugs on the shelf for $9.59 each.

So $1.92 Qt in the 5 qt Jugs...$2.16 Qt for individual...

Thanks

Someone saw a MSRP of $2.69 for the "Deposit Shield" but nobody ever found out what MSRP of the old Havoline was.

I don't really care what the MSRP is, if the actual price of the new stuff is close to that of the old, I'll continue buying it.

We don't even know if the new stuff is better or worse than the old yet. It may be a bargain or it may be a ripoff. Or it may be priced just right.

I just had a really nasty thought. Hope Im wrong.

Suppose there is a glut of GI or GI+. In order to use it you would need 10-50% GII+ to make 10W-30. To make 5w30 you would need 10-50% GIII. But the kicker is you would need an increased additive package.

"How do we market this stuff?" "We just tell them the increased add package is to keep their engine extra clean..." "Yeah, we can call it "Deposit Shield" or some such nonsense..."

I saw it at my local Advance Auto Parts and the new Havoline is $2.79 per quart. They didn't have the gallon jugs of Havoline yet.

Ouch! I wouldn't buy it for that price.

I was looking around the Havoline website today and located the PDS for both the old Havoline and the new stuff.

The new 5w-20 is different in: (old/new)
Vis 40: 45.5/47.5
Vis 100: 8.0/8.0
Vis Indx: 148/146
Flash: 460F/392F
Ash: .9/.8
Base #: 8.5/7.8

The new 5w30 is different in: (old/new)
Vis 40: 64.8/59.4
Vis 100: 10.8/9.7
Vis Indx: 159/151
Flash: 450F/392F
Ash: .9/.8
Base #: 7.6/7.8

It really doesn't look like it changed much, but it looks like it did some????

The PDS for the new stuff is dated 12-28-06 and for the old stuff it's 9-26-06.

I would still like to see a VOA. It's still $2.16 at WallyWorld around here, and that is for the new stuff.
