new filter/engine knock

Hello guy,s anyone here ever heard of a different filter causing a cold engine knock,replaced the filter on my daughters 98 neon with a carquest filter(had mopar on it before)now when she starts it the engine knocks until it is warmed up,real bad if it has not been started in a couple of day,s. thanks.........keval85

I wonder if the anti-drain back valve is failing on the new filter.

yep ..put in a different filter...wix, napa ..OEM

An inappropriately designed or manufactured filter will definitely cause a start up knock. Like posted above^^ , it's the anti-drainback valve.

Thanks guy,s I was always under the impression CARQUEST filters were made by wix,but I have noticed alot of parts there are made in china.Hope they didn,t change to fram filters
