Thanks to bruce, it looks like the Gold will be every bit as good as the Green. It contains the same PAO/Polymer. Only the additive chemistry has changed.

If you don't have access to the GC, go with the Amsoil 0w-30. Go through a site sponsor. You guy's can meet up and make a deal. LOL.

I still contend that the Amsoil 5W-40 will do nicely in a Chevy pushrod V8. Less costly than the 0w30 and I'll bet wear numbers will be even better.

I agree with Pablo, I think the Amsoil 5w40 is a better fit for the LS1-LS2-LS6 than Amsoil 0w30 or 5w30 would be.

I'd go with the Series 2000, 0w30 if cost is no object. I do like the 5w-40 for older pushrod engines that have significant wear on them.

I had forgotten about this post. Thanks to Buster, Pablo and Patman for adding their input.

Right now the Green CG is in and I have another 20+ Qts of it. Also have a new Nissan Murano that I think GC may work well in.

That being said, (apologies to pscholte), all things considered, I am going to go with S2K or the S3K (diesel) at some point since I am not sold on the Gold GC as compared to the Green. I have been using AMsoil for almost 25 years and it seems like Amsoil is making a good product. I need to keep the new vette under warrranty for the next 5 years and even though the GC is a good oil, it doesn't have the GM rating and with all I have read, dealers will look for any reason to deny warranty claims. So to be safe, I am going to go back to AMsoil when I run out of GC. Thank goodness I am a preffered customer, helps with the cost.

Any and ALL comments gratefully read.

It's okay, will just leave that much more GC for you. Unless of course I do a used oil analysis and find the elixer of HP is working better than anything else I could use.

Only time will tell, (but the warranty issue is still out there).

GC has the GM rating doesn't it? It's probably your best choice for that car.

I would pick the oil that will cover your behind through the warranty period. Not that any of your mentioned oils will cause any problem .

If you go with Amsoil, I would choose the S3K HDD. Just my opinion, but it seems to be the most robust product they offer.

Amsoil is raising prices Oct. 1 again, so unless you plan on long OCI's, the cost is a major consideration.

NEWC6 the only two oils that I have that are "officially" as listed on webpage GM4718M approved is mobil 1 and chevron/texaco synthetic.

Yea but there are others that are rated GM4718M that are not listed on the GM site. It those that I am interested in. Unfortunately, even though GC is a great oil, it doesn't carry the rating so as far as warranty goes, I am not supposed to use it. Some of the Amsoil stuff does carry the rating and I will probably use them.

And in this case, cost really is no object, I will use the best oil period. IMHO that is.

Sorry dave1251, forgot to answer your other question. I am worried about engine repair under warranty. I bought an extended warranty on this car since it was the first year of the new model and this engine is new as well. Already we have seen issues with the LS2 motor. Actually only one but we shall see.

This is NOT limited to auto life. You would not believe the sheer number of $10,000 plus motocross bikes at the local track, set up specifically for the rider with suspension, engine mods (re mapped CDI's, head work, high comp pistons, etc.) and the rider or parental support unit gripes about the cost of fuel and oil. Fuel and oil are the probably the LEAST expensive part of any racing effort, and this would certainly apply to this scenario as well.
