anyone know who sells cheap (not cheaply made, but you know) clutch kits? i found one for my car at $123.57 online but wondering if theres a site that sells like discount priced stuff...

car - 93 civic lx 1.5l manual (D15B7)

have to let the pedal out to the top, about a centimeter from the top before it will engage so....

also wondering how much a shop will charge (about) to install YOUR clutch kit v.s having them do it all... thanks

Stick with OEM Honda all the way -- pressure plate, clutch disk, throw-out bearing and pilot bearing. Might even consider a new flywheel if yours has been resurfaced before, too.

Thanks for the link. They have Honda genuine antifreeze for $11.30 per gallon. Is that worth it? And Genuine Honda brake fluid for $4 per pint.

Yes, the OEM Type II "blue" at $11.30 a gallon is worth it -- it's more here in San Diego, dealer-direct, than that -- and it's a superb coolant, besides.

Manchester Honda's a decent outfit. Keep an eye on things when shipping heavy stuff though, as that can add up.

good site, i can't find any clutch kits though....just the individual pieces...

I've had good luck with original clutches from the dealer, and Centerforce Clutches. Tried cheap after-market kits from discount houses and they were garbage. I would rather spend a little more than have to do the job over again because an inferior part was installed. Not sure of the above kit, if Honda uses it as OEM then go for it.

I have a 99 F150. Did a clutch job at 118000 miles. Ammco did the change out , $1100 bucks. They use Luk components and did a great job. $500 of that was parts.

and i thought people drove autos cause they didn't know how to shift

Last time I inquired at my dealer about a clutch replacement on my (ABS equipped) Prelude, I was quoted $600 told me it would have been ~$500 if I didn't have ABS (***?), but that included their marked-up parts. They didn't want to do the work with my supplied parts.

Check the Yellow pages for an Independent Honda specialist, they'll hook you up.
