Momma has been buggin' me about "upgrading" to a (F)Atlas for a while now. I think she is in cohoots with our son, who surprisingly, has been bugging us to take the Tiguan "off our hands". Guess who is gonna win this one?

Local dealer sells their service loaners after 4-6 months for discounted prices. All serviced at the dealer and well cared for. They all get Certified so an additional 2 years (from in service date) on the warranty along with an extra 24K miles after the 50K. 2026 SE with Technology, 7500 miles, Silver Mist with Titan black interior. Has the Captains Chair second row option (really like that) and is virtually spotless inside. Had it for the past couple days to evaluate, rides and drives well, no issues so far. Except NO DIPSTICK?!?? Well, $30 at FCP can fix that.

Getting used to the "tech" as it is electronic push button/haptic everything (except steering wheel thankfully). Already serviced (oil/filter, tire rotation etc.) and exterior is like it rolled out of the factory. Nary a scratch or blemish that I could find anywhere. And I look EVERYWHERE. Not ecstatic about the FF staying in until now, but for the savings, guess I could live with it. She doesn't want to give it back so already secured financing. Have a family at church in need of a car so the GLI will go to them after I repair the AC. Will Atilla stay? Probably. Stay tuned.

How much larger is that than the Tiguan? We had a Tig rental last year when my truck was down. It was pretty decent aside from the lane keep assist, wasn't a big fan but can be turned off.

It's bigger in all dimensions over our 2020 Tiguan. Doesn't necessarily drive much bigger though, if that makes sense. Biggest one I worry about with her driving is that it's wider. She already uses the wheels to find curbs as is .

I have seen them on the road but never sat in one. Our oldest Son is getting pretty tall and that ruled out mid-size SUVs for 2nd row room on 3 row vehicles. Hopefully it has a little more power than the Tig. No comment on the curb rash, hah.

Happy to hear you can put a manual dipstick in. I'd have no idea how reliable a full time oil level sensor is. I say "full time" since my ancient 2008 Volvo only has a "Low Oil Level" Sensor on the oil pan. It's triggered a few times at around 1/3-1/4 above Minimum on the dipstick.

Is it AWD? Edmonds shows FWD $43,720 & AWD $45,640 MSRP but then goes onto suggest you'll pay $39,187 which seems to be inline with your 7,500 mile example.
Please let me know how the warranty works.

Nice ride. My only advice is get the longest extended warranty available. Saved my granddaughter over $8000 at 125k miles. VW’s are not cheap to fix.

Its FWD, and the warranty is through VW, as in a Certified Volkswagen warranty and can be warranty serviced at any authorized VW center. In-service date on this on was March of this year so 6 years total from then. 74K miles, but we'll probably time out first. Same warranty, ie; bumper to bumper.

FF is factory oil fill. "only" went to 7500 and not 10K thank goodness .

Definately lots of room inside. Have him go check one out. Think he will be surprised. Yep, more power/torque than the Tig. It uses the EA888 Gen 4 from the GTI, albeit slightly detuned (269HP/273lb/ft.TQ vs. 184HP/221TQ). You can feel the difference, especially in sport mode.

Congratulations!
Pay attention on windshield. I got rid of mine because. it needed 5 windshields in a year and a half. Now, in SC there are no rocks all over the road, so you might have a different experience. The windshield issue is bugging some people, while some don't have any problems with it.
I had a 2021 (they are on the same platform, so no difference in the windshield, etc.), and IMO it is by far the best family SUV in the class when it comes to space. However, I personally dislike this current update with that screen and the AC function. IMO, it is a huge step back over the previous interior when it comes to practicality.

He has the Colorado, at least when he turns 16 in a few weeks. I was mainly commenting on the 2nd row for road trips. The Yukon was way more than I wanted to spend but we drove a Durango and the 2nd row was awful, 3rd was a joke. That is the power difference I was seeing online but was curious since they are both 2.0L. I am sure it's noticeable.

VW is having a lot of trouble moving the Atlas at this point. I bought two of them earlier this week for my customers, and both of them sold for under the wholesale average. Although these were both low-to-mid trim models (SE and SE with Technology).

They peaked at a little over 100 this week nationally at Manheim, and a little less than half of those sold this week at the VW dealer auctions.

Q7 is a jok compared to Atlas. Atlas compared to any SUV in the family SUV category (Pilot, Grand Highlander etc.) is by far the most practical and has most useful space. The second tow is on par my Sequoia.
When I got rid of mine (bcs. windshield) it was really hard moving from that to Pilot or Grand Highlander. They are joke space wise compared to Atlas.
Only option was moving to full size SUV. Actually Atlas has more practical space than new Sequoia.

EA888 Gen3 in my Atlas (235hp, 258lb/ft) was perfectly good moving us+two kids, full trunk, Yakima and bikes. Hitting 100mph over 10,000ft altitude fully loaded is piece of cake:
