New Bronco

I bought a new Bronco Outer Banks with Sasquatch package yesterday. 2.7 Ecoboost V6 and 10 speed. Any special advice on driving or maintenance? I am not interested in hearing from those who say I made a mistake.

I figure 5K oil changes with full synthetic 5w-30. I will go with the Motocraft oil and filters to start with. Is it true Motocraft is made by Castrol?
Use Euro approved 5W30. Are there specifics on API specifications in manual?

My niece’s boyfriend ordered his Eruption Green Badlands Sasquatch when Ford announced pre-orders right before COVID. It arrived in Jan 2023. They’ve joined us in cross-country camping & off-roading trips. As expected, it’s very capable off-roading stock.

They offer a 7 speed manual, but you will not see them on a lot. Order one and wait for a build.

Oh…only with the 4 cyl! So then, me too!!
I think Ford was quoting a 20ish percent manual take rate on the 4dr and a hair less on the two door. More than I would have figured.

It was quite high initially maybe even 24%. After the passionate few ordered it has dropped to around %15 for 2024/2025 builds.

I have never seen one ordered by a dealer for the lot. One poster said his dealer had four. I once tried to find a manual Tacoma near me for a year..no luck but a dealer in Kentucky had EIGHT. You can’t order one. Toyota decides where to send them. Kentucky must be THE PLACE!

That's what I never figured out. Toyota literally sends dealerships vehicles and then they have to trade for stock from there. Yet you can walk into a Lexus dealership and custom order whatever you want. Seems odd to me.

I need to get a hitch for it. I found a wiring harness ending at where the hitch attaches. Is there a reason to get the Ford hitch for $ 500, or is an aftermarket hitch fine?

Dealer parts department recommended synthetic blend. I told him he is wrong and bought the full synthetic and Ford (overpriced) filter.

Pictures of worn out rear end oil are concerning.

Ironically, just a couple of days ago our neighbour across the street seems to have brought home a new, dark-green with black roof Bronco! Really nice looking truck!

They all bolt up the same way the OEM Ford one does. The Bronco is only rated to tow 3500, so pretty much all the class III ones will work.

Carquest standard would still be better for about that price. If you really like Mann + Hummel and need the $3 keep using them, it makes no difference to me, I’m not getting a cut.
You’re joking, right? I used to use Carquest filters in my Touareg because it was the cheapest way to get Mann filters locally.

Most cartridges are rebrands / reboxes in my experience.

No, I am not joking. Carquest changed vendors away from M+H because their quality control is terrible now. Just search about it on the filter forum, don’t take my word for it. Or keep using them, I don’t care, it’s your vehicle. I know it’s hard to stomach when your favorite filter brand takes a turn for the worse, but such is the nature of the filter industry. German Mann filters (not Mann + Hummel) are a little better than the Motorcraft M+H.

Cartridge filters and canister filters are not the same. The construction, media, and COO are not the same.

Umm, not on Lexus RX350’s you cant at least. They are allocated with little rhyme or reason. We were after a particular exterior color/interior color and our dealer had to trade with a dealer 400 miles away to get it as they have no control over what they get.

I worked at a Lexus dealership as a sales associate. We were able to order anything. I suppose it has changed.
