The Bosch is about $20 more than the Remy, but don’t know which to go with. I have a 2002 F150 4.6 with the 130 amp alternator. Are there any better suggestions as well? I need one like yesterday..
We have one local but they have terrible reviews. I called anyways and the owner I spoke to was a total d1ck so I said forget it.No good local auto electric shops nearby, to rebuild what you have? We have a local shop that can turn it around in a day, if they have everything on hand... and better quality than anything out of China, Mexico, or Taiwan.
The reviews look promising on ithttps://www.amazon.com/DB-Electrica...leId=17&vehicleName=1999+Ford+E-150+Econoline
I'll get flamed for this.. but I've put these on a couple trucks and they are still going fine years later. Not sure how much the alternators you're looking at cost, but for $20 I'd go bosch.
I will rebuild anything that I can, but if the slip rings are gone or if a the starter armature has a short, it’s time for something else. My nearest rebuild shop is a half hour away and works on the local products first. I honestly had a product in there for nine months once and he never touched it, despite calling him every month to check on the status. However, when I came to pick it up, he repeatedly wanted me to keep it there telling me that he could get to it tomorrow. No good local auto electric shops nearby, to rebuild what you have? Have you not learned anything from being on these forums? At $217, NAPA is one of the the most overpriced parts store chains. It would have been $133 at Rock Auto. Thanks guys. I ordered a new Bosch from Napa Auto
My truck is my daily driver so I can’t wait for Rock Auto’s shipping time. Sometimes you have to pay a little more to get things instantly when you need it. I save money all the time but this is a situation where I need it ASAP.Have you not learned anything from being on these forums? At $217, NAPA is one of the the most overpriced parts store chains. I have another vehicle but my wife uses it to drive the kids around and run her errands so I just have my truck reallyOK if that is the only thing to drive. Most people here have more than one vehicle in case one is laid up temporarily.
