MK7 VW GTI Alternator Reman or New?

Valeo products are generally solid, they are OEM to many european manufacturers. Do you know where the Valeo is manufactured?

I know the MK6 Valeo alternators are made in Poland. I’d guess the MK7s are probably as well.

Pictures at ECSTuning of the new alternators sold by VW show Mexico.

I have to admit, that I have ordered from FCP Euro and the country of origin they list is incorrect. Not sure if FCPs fault or the manufacturer moved production for the item and FCP didn't notice. I just bought a door check/brake for my BMW and they said it was made in Taiwan, it was actually from Turkey. Same with a factory BMW ignition switch, was supposed to be Germany and was from Czech Republic.

Good chance that if the engine came from Silao, it's a Mexican sourced alternator. No matter. Me personally I would go for the Bosch reman that was done by Bosch. They go over them with a fine toothed comb and all are done very well. Then get the one from out of the car re-manned locally. Most do a much better job than anyone else except maybe for Bosch factory reman.
