I sold my GX470 to my son at 130,000 miles. He says every now and then it starts riding hard like my old 2002 4Runner. Like the shocks are solid with no give. We drove it yesterday and all was well. He drove it to work today and about 30 minutes going up the road it
started riding so hard he chipped a tooth and might have cracked C5. Then...2 minutes later smooth as cream cheese. No dash lights
are on. Haven't scanned it yet. If it were the air bags, would it behave like this? It does have air suspension on the rear only. Any thing
you suggest I do to start my diagnosis? He has the dial set to "Comfort" mode.

my first look would definitely be the air suspension.
Leaking or pump going bad.

Nothing else comes to mind for an intermittent issue.

It confuses me being intermittent. I would think if the bags were leaking, they would leak down overnight??? He’d come out the next morning and the rear end would be sagging. But it’s not? That’s why I’m wondering if it’s electrical? Maybe the pump is quitting for a few minutes and then starting back up?

It’s likely over pressurizing the suspension, that would be my guess. So I would look into the pressure sensor that controls the pump cutoff.

These don't get a "magnet ride" of any sort? Sorry, I don't know....

If just air, can you unplug the compressor electrical when it's riding well and see if 1) the problem vanishes and 2) are there leaks

Is there a PID for air pressure you can monitor?

Magnetic suspension technology is primarily a GM specialty in their higher end vehicles. Lexus GX470 has the compressor/airbag type of active suspension, but they did dabble in a "Magic Carpet" magnetic ride system with BOSE a few decades ago.

I’ve watched a few videos. I’m gonna try resetting the system by pulling a fuse or 2.

Mystery solved!

Im making my last post.
No specific experience with a GX, but on my Land Rovers the air suspension is pretty simple. It's 4 air bags, a compressor, air tank, two valve blocks and air lines. Not sure what those codes mean, but I don't think the leak is causing the harsh ride. I'm thinking one of the return lines could be messed up or the desiccant in the compressor is dried up.

Airbags are leaking, after a certain time period the air pump times out to prevent overheating the pump. Jack up the body & peel back the outer bellow & spray soapy water on the airbag. You’ll see a leak somewhere
