I promise this is my last post concerning the air suspension on a 2007 Lexus GX470. I’m not the brightest bulb but the suspension works sometimes and sometimes it does not. Beats the hell out of me literally and mentally. I sold it to my son and feel some financial responsibility. It quit working Saturday and was bottomed out at 32” from ground to bottom of fender. Long story but I had to drive it to church about 30 minutes one way. Bottomed out the entire way. About 1/2 way back home it repaired itself and rode smooth as butter. I touched nothing. Got home and raised it to “H” and it raised right up. This morning it hadn’t leaked at all. Still at 37.5”. I have 2 repeatable codes. C1751 and C1761. I don’t understand if the bags are leaking, why they don’t leak down overnight??? My mechanic is not familiar with this air system. Do I just order some air bags and hope for the best? I’m using Gemini and it has helped. At this point I’m unsure which component is wonky.

It looks like the safest bet is to replace with coil springs. I guess I'd need new shocks as well.

At this point, I wouldn't blame the air bags themselves. More like a hose, or loose/cracked fitting, check valve or level sensor. On systems like these (and I never owned a Lexus) there are a lot of parts that can go bad.

No help but the safest bet might be to take it to a Lexus specialist for a proper diagnosis. Could be less $ than firing the parts cannon.
Very valid point. But that 6 hour drive with no rear shocks would be unbearable. You have no idea what 30 minutes was
yesterday. LOL

I'm thinking about simple conversion to coil springs. I'll see what my son wants to to.

so if a code is set it can disable the height adjustment/management?

there are repair trees on how to diagnose. cant do much over internet.

A quick google search says that C1751 means the vehicle didn't reach the specified ride height, and C1761 means there is an open circuit on the vehicle level sensor circuit.

I knew this. But thanks!

Yeah a code for level sensor (circuit) makes it VERY believable that the system doesn't KNOW anything is wrong -- or more specifically doesn't know what height it is at, so it's unsure what to do.

No sensor input = blind. I'd chase this for sure
