New BMW X3 M40, INSANE power delivery (2024)

From a stop, and with it's awd, it gets off the line with authority. It would have the advantage against my sportscar from a standing start due to traction, but would quickly lose out if handling or anything more than a 1/4 mile in a straight line were involved. A plaid on the Nurburgring was 30 seconds per lap slower, than a stock version of my car. Let alone one which is 400 rwhp and rwtorque up from stock.

There are much faster modified street-legal cars than mine.

Speed is relative.
What on earth do you have?

Are we still talking about the X6M?

?
What car did you come from?
One of the two above?
My son‘s mid-level 2024 M40 seems to be about $16,000 (actually 20K) less than M Comp base model
Not sure of the comparison you’re providing and why, the M40 is the middle of the line, 20% faster then the plain X3
He owns a mid $60,000 car not a mid $80,000 car
Good catch on my compact comment, technically correct. It’s a compact SUV. I always looked at the X1 as a compact, I guess that's a sub compact? Either way, yeah, it's a substantial X3 that in my mind doesnt match the word compact. Other than riding in my son's revolving line of BMWs that is the only time I get up to date on them. Looks like every 15 to 20 k gives you significant upgrade in power here is the X3 M40 compared to the (lack of better words) entry X3 drive30 plus your supplied chart to the M Comp in your post..

That's because you're probably in your 50-60's and you think of a 2002 car as "not that old". Back in the day, the X3 as you see it now, would have been a full-size SUV, and the X1 a wagon. Everything is bigger and faster and more powerful nowadays.

I came from a Volvo C40:

I don’t think there’s any competition at all. They are different vehicles for individual wants and needs. The don’t even run on the same “fuel”
The rest of your characterization of me is out of whack and it shows you desperation to prove a point? One that doesn’t exist except maybe in your pop tart world.

On a track or significant road race your EV6 would die as power would be cut back to prevent overheating
Except it doesn't cut power because it doesnt have that issue.

Also...the name IS Competition. Its literally the name of the trim level.

*sigh*

I shall correct that part of my post
You’ll just have to recharge before 200 miles
May be way before depending how you’re pushing it.
I came in here to post about an awesome gasoline car assuming wrongly that others posting about EVs would be in the EV enthusiasts section

I assume you’re talking about the BMW.
Yes, it’s quite an experience the way the all-wheel-drive works.
It's able to transfer all that power to the pavement without slippage. AWD with traction control but I don't think it uses the brakes.

When you car knowledge comes from brochure.

You still don’t get it. Every time someone opens a thread he comes and makes it about vehicle(s) he drives. Now it is whatever Kia he is driving, before that it was some Mazda and Toyota, which he compared to BMW, MB etc. In reality, he uses these topics to convince himself of right choice. Next year he will buy something else and he will be here comparing it to whatever topic someone opens with: I just drove XYZ, and it is…

There are 260 cars on this list, NONE is KIA, but bunch are Porsche! Stop trying to convince yourself you are driving ANYTHING close to Porsche, BMW, Mercedes etc:

At the track I am curious which would last longer. I know when I tracked a Z06 I was averaging 4mpg. That comes out to 80mi with a full 20gal tank.

That said, yes, charging is the tradeoff.

Kinda how you relate your old beater family car to the modern M cars being discussed. We just enjoy debate.

Haha, no ring time yet, but plenty of other tracks it bests them on.

Your stance would have more merit if I werent able to have bought MB or M instead, imo

No time yet? It has been 2 years since KIA showed that car at the Nurburgring! They still trying to reach finish?

While the X6 M is impressive for a refined tank. Our sportscar is a 5th gen Viper with forced induction, is tuned for pump gas, and produces a moderate 1100 hp and torque. It still has the (strengthened) manual 6 speed, as opposed to sequential gearboxes which some owners have fitted. Usually those cars run on race gas or either Ethanol or Methanol, depending on how fast they are trying to go. They usually are designed for roll-racing, or the LSR events like the Texas Mile, etc. Some of those are in excess of 3000 hp.

A video of such cars.
