New August record temp in Phoenix

Taking a look at the “ heat island “ effect, parts of the Phoenix greater area can be as much as 12 degrees F higher than the surrounding countryside. However, since that’s where the people live there, it’s not much of a consolation.

Hopefully you guys in Phoenix have a pool to cool down.
Interesting my nephew put a pool in here at the coast, it has a heat pump to heat and cool the water. I never thought about it before, but I would assume every pool in Arizona has one.

Our community pools here, the water gets hot in the middle of the summer and it’s not that refreshing.

The record high for Phoenix is 122 on June 26, 1990. For Arizona heat you go to Lake Havasu City. 128 degrees on June 29, 1994. However, Furnace Creek in Death Valley holds the real record, 134.1 degrees on July 10, 1913.

Here in Kingman, the highest temperature was a nice cool 113 on more than one occasion.

I’ve never heard of cooling a pool here.

We are under a extreme heat warning thru the weekend, it was according to my car 114 this afternoon, its freaking HOT HOT HOT .

And its also been humid the last few days as we are still in monsoon season, had really nice lighting show last night to go with the power outage for 15 minutes.

People from other parts of the country may not understand what you mean by humid. Humidity was 19% here yesterday so we were all suffering and complaining. Today the humidity is even more extreme, 36% right now. I guess 56% later.

supposed to be 67f on tues.. thats a wacko temp for august here.
then 8-10 days of cooler temps..with an overall high of 80f
its like fall rolled in 6 weeks early.

I expect sometime after that summer will return for a few more 90f+ days.

Hot days like that is why God made shade trees. I can't even imagine being outside working in heat like that.
