Pretty much a myth. Doesn't happen. Plus every owners manual so lightly worded, there really is no concern.

That said Amsoil makes lesser API listed oils. (BTW API isn't a cert or approval, it's a listing)

Yes local boat/watercraft dealers in CA and NV when (2T injection was popular) regularly denied claims when Amsoil injection oil was used. It was determined the oil bubbling was not caused by aeration. It was the oil itself causing bubbles in the injection lines.

I know of at least a dozen cases I personally witnessed getting warranties declined. It got so bad at one of the dealers that they told new customers that their warranty would be voided for any engine damage if Amsoil was used.

This was a very big problem as it took so much time to determine the cause. Oil samples being sent out checking for fuel dilution and chasing down ghost air leaks (the likely causes of bubbling oil in injection reservoir) came up negative.

I was one of the first that had my Yamaha VZ300 outboard seize. It was fully covered under warranty but was told to use only the Yamalube as the Amsoil was flushed out. After a few approved warranty claims, both dealers I did business with had multiple engines (different brands and sizes) seizing due to air bubbles in the injector lines.

Bottom line was the common denominator of failures was when only using Amsoil 2T injector oil. Once any other injection oil was used the failures stopped and no more bubbles.

After that experience I will not ever again use any AMSOIL product

IF Amsoil was at fault and they recommended the oil for the application they would cover the engine replacement. Sounds like more campfire stories to me….

It seems like people either don't know about Amsoil's warranty or just assume its all for show to sell more oil and that they won't actually do anything for you when things go wrong.

If Amsoil were to make a mistake in formulating a product that lead directly to failures, how are they supposed to find out and fix it if people don't report it to them for warranty repair?

Absolutely true. Your choice to believe the Amsoil propaganda.

It might be different today than it was back in 2004. I get it. The Amsoil advertising campaign by popular marketing influencers such as Gale Banks and others is titillating to the gullible.

Bottom line is do your research. Mine and other small group of anecdotal experiences are just a small representation of using a subpar oil.

BTW the dealers I did business with tried to reach out to Amsoil and presented all evidence to them showing the oil failures. Amsoil denied claims and repairs came out of customers pockets.

They did not back in 2004. Is something different today?
