The website is now showing the new formulation is rolling out, and packages may have a mix of old and new as the supply of old runs out.

The new formulations shows better noack across the board and slight viscosity changes as well.

Figures, i just posted this in another thread where it seemed someone has already received / purchased the new formulation - im jonesing to see a VOA of 0W20 or 5W30.

i use the 10w30 during Summer in my 2024 Mazda CX-5 Signature. i am at 104 000 Kilometers on the odometer and does not take a single drop of oil. and i is spirited driving.

Wow there NOACK has improved but there HTHS #’s are down along with there TBN should we be concerned? Should we just save money and go with AMSOIL XL line ? Which is pretty stout 😮😮

Robust discussion on this here.

I don’t think that their HTHS numbers have gone down. It appears that they are rounding to one decimal point instead of two. The 5W30 shows a slight drop from 3.1 to 3.0.

Why no 5w40?

I was thinking the same thing. Why no 5w40? Not a fan of 0wXX oils
The Noack for their 0W-40 is actually quite good, so it’s doing the work for 5W-40 too, as they must be using some very high quality VIIs to keep the Noack that low. But I agree, 5W-40 is missing from the line up.

Why? Many of the 0w-40 oils out there are much better than their 5w-40 counterparts. Just look at the manufacturer approvals on the 0w-40s and you can see that they are better choices. Don’t fall victim to assuming that anything that starts with a zero is bad. These days I would never choose a 5w-X over a 0w-X

I think that’s good advice for off the shelf oils, but if you look at boutiques, the higher the W rating, generally the lower the VII load and Noack. Look at HPL’s 10W-xx and 15W-xx offerings. 😮‍💨

With how much lower the noack is on the 5W-30, I'm definitely going to want to run this in my wife's turbo 1.3L trailblazer

Yes, it is also tempting me to run it in my 1.6 Ecoboost, mainly for that spec.

But it also has a good starting TBN, and the (slightly) lower HTHSV is possibly even a benefit for me, given that Ford (erroneously) specs a 2.6-2.9 HTHSV 5W-20 for this engine in the North American market.

Has anyone heard any clues as to when ALL of the stock will ONLY be the new reformulated product (especially the 5W-30)?
Who knows? I don't even think AMSOIL would know that.

People have posted 1 gallon containers here in 5W-30 with the reformulation. So I would think if you ordered that size, you'd get the new stuff.

Not that the old formula was bad to begin with...
