New Amsoil ATF for Honda DW-1?

Amsoil recently began claiming Nissan Matic-S and Honda ATF-DW1 compatibility without a major formulation change.

Previously, Amsoil recommended their regular ATF for Matic-S, but are now recommending ATL.

It is possible that the ATFs are more similar than we are led to believe, but my pockets are not deep enough to take those chances.

I'm sure its a very high quality ATF , but for all our Honda fleet that have an auto transmission...

I will ONLY use Honda ATF.

I have no doubt that it is a great ATF Pablo. See my Sig, I like your products......my wife always says the van has more pep and is more quiet with ASM vs TGMO or Mazda oil. It's the dealer that scares the living poo out of us with the fluids.

From my limited experience with DW-1 so far, it seems to hold up a lot better than ATF-Z1. I just did a 2012 Civic with 28k recently and there was zero improvement in transmission performance afterwards. On Honda transmissions, there is usually a very noticeable improvement in shift quality after a partial drain/refill...not so this time. Also, the drained fluid looked identical to new.

I agree, when I had it done, I noticed nothing. The DW-1 is made by Idemitsu and should serve well. I just can't help but think that this new amsoil atf would be better.

Marketing can be quite convincing sometimes.

lol, I'm basing this on the motor oil experience......yes, and marketing plays a factor. However, I am not one to order a "magic bullet" blender off info-mercials either. I do research.....that being said, there is not a lot of independent tests out there to make a conclusion.

This.

My question to Pablo is....

Did Amsoil do all the miles of testing that Honda has with its own ATF?

How many miles did Honda test the ATF for?

500 million miles I would suspect....
^joke obviously.

Pablo,

Do you know why the ASM I am buying still has the silver label on it instead of the green?

Not sure. The labels change from time to time. Where, when, who, how are buying (it from?)

Buying it in NC from a NAPA independent dealer in a rural town. I have bought it a few times and it has always had the silver label. First time I bought it was last summer, last time was about 3 weeks ago.

I don't see what paying $3-4 more per quart for Amsoil ATF gets me over DW-1 in my 100k 07 MDX. It shifts perfectly fine and noticed no difference changing it.

Let's not change the subject. I asked first.

So how many miles did Amsoil test their product in late model Honda automatic transmissions that only spec DW-1?
