New 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SE

After much deliberation, my wife and I decided to go ahead and purchase a new van. My 1995 sable finally reached the end of the road, and we traded that in.

It's a 2016 Grand Caravan SE, Granite Crystal Metallic. Just built in August and had 5 miles when we took delivery.

It's perfect for my wife and our son, and I'll take her 2010 Chevy Cobalt that just hit 40,000 miles.



I will be getting a gallon of the special purple MOPAR coolant to keep just in case.

The engine calls for 5w20 oil. Does anyone know if this CAM2 oil will suffice?

Just in case of what? A shortage? Save your money for now and keep a little extra room in your garage.

Looks like it will, but why go out of your way to get something as 'exotic' and presumably expensive as CAM2?

Agreed with not needing to buy a gallon of coolant to keep on hand or go overboard with some boutique oil.

I just like to keep things like coolant, oil, windshield wash, stuff like that for each of the cars in the shed. A gallon of each doesn't take up too much space.

The CAM2 I can get through my job at a good price (about $2.25 a quart), its nice to just grab what I need for an oil change. I'm not committed to that brand specifically.

Why the coolant? If it offers peace of mind, fine, but way overkill imo.
Check the owner's manual on the oil spec. If it calls for SN rated you will be fine. If it calls for meeting a specific MOPAR cert, then your oil must meet that certification - at least while you are in warranty.

Yep... One of the biggest bargains out there for the dollar. What you get, for what you spend, is a great deal.

Since it appears that the CAM2 oil meets the required spec (from a separate thread), I'd use it with confidence.

2016 Grand Caravan Se. Has Stow&Go (2nd and third row seats fold into the floor).

We got one that has tinted glass in the rear, it seems that some do not come with that.

Pretty basic, no automatic doors, cloth seats, basic radio with CD player.

No cash down, got $1000 for the Sable, $300/month for 60 months.

Total $19000 out the door including tax title tags.

It's nice, now we are set on vehicles for the next 10 years hopefully.

It did come with a compact spare. I plan on getting a full size wheel and tire to take on long trips at least.

is it a V6? we had a rental during the long weekend. It was a Chrysler T&C V6 with dvd; i think its a Touring model. This is what i found very odd: the gas cap location... what if my kid decided to push the button to open the door during gas filling? It will hit the gas gun?

The driver's side sliding door won't open if the gas door is open.

I pretty much told them what I wanted and what I could spend. I had the Sable all cleaned out and brought the title with me to trade in, so I guess they knew I was serious about buying the new car.

I turned down 2 offers before they finally gave me the number I needed.

Is there space to fit an actual spare? Is the tire on the car such an oddball size that you wont be able to find it while on a long trip if yours is shredded?

Very nice! Like the color. We've got a 2013 SE.
