I traded in my 2011 Ghost for the 2012 Extended Wheelbase version. There are marked improvements this year. The side view mirrors are no longer off the Phantom, they are smaller, more approproate in size. The seats are better looking and softer. They use the same Run Flat tires but have larger brakes I am told. Also, the rough ride that is often associated with RF Tires is gone now. And the car is more quiet riding. It is still a sportier suspension, nice and tight, but no longer rough.

They spec. 0W- or 5W-30 or 0W-40 oil. I will use 0W-20 as usual when it gets time to change the oil.

{removed since it requires membership on another board. sorry..}

I've always been curious, how do/did you acquire this much money?

That's a sweet car, enjoy it.....

Oh, and prepare for the onslaught of people mad about your oil weight choice.

But they should know by now that you love 0w20

I assume you will be doing your own oil change at home, and depriving your RR dealer of an easy $600 of profit?

They can't be happy about that.

Will the 0W20 be from RLI?

The only question is whether to use Motorcraft 5W-20 semi synthetic or Red Line or 0W-20 RLI. I am leaning towards the Motorcraft actually.

I will bring the oil to the dealership to use so they get their service call in. They usually give me something back like a filter or two.

I have no easy way to post pictures any more, sorry.

Please go with the Redline for that lovely automobile...it deserves the best full syn!

Enjoy.

With trade in plan like that oil is irrelevant. I wonder how much these cars depreciate in one year? Is it $50k or more. Sort of like setting a pile of money on fire if not leasing it.

You're setting money on fire every time you start your engine, the difference is that some people can afford to burn more money than others. That's the beauty of America.

Bravo to you, Doc! Nice ride.

Heck of a lot better car than those Maybachs. Sharp looker, too.

I'm proud to live in a country where you can work HARD and earn whatever you feel is good for you.

No envy here, just respect.

I'm surprised your RR service department has agreed to use a non-approved viscosity while you are still under warranty. How much arm twisting did you have to do?

Actually the original Ghost was just a stop gap until the EWB version came out this year. I basically paid the difference in the pricing of the longer wheelbase model - and got a year newer car. No loss here. The dealership does an honest job. They did not have what I wanted at first and made up for it when the EWB was released. I recommend them without reservation.

I will investigate oil changes when the time comes.
