I doubt that they'll be "lying" about the cars HP, though functional power you'll see on the road and what can be done in testing are two different animals. Peak HP numbers are typically at RPM's people don't actually see.
That said, this is my pet peeve regarding many cars, and the Fit specifically; they're geared (in the US) to feel "peppy" in MT form. This is great and all, but it hurts hwy fuel economy and makes them noisier on the hwy. I'll take a taller-geared, slower transmission any day, particularly in an econo-box.
I like the new Veloster more than the Accent--but the Accent is probably a more practical car. I dig them both.
