I have an older Oliver diesel tractor that blows a good amount of blue smoke and may be a little low on compression. It has had nothing but 15w40 for most of its life and no cleaup additives before I have tried the "5 minute oil flush" before with no results. Ideally I would use Auto Rx for a cycle in this tractor to clean her up good, but it doesn't fit the budget. Would Neutra do a nice job in cleaning this tractor's engine out during the course of say, a 50 hour service?

Any idea how well it might work relative to ARX? I thought about the Soyshield in the fuel tank. (local napa carries both) Would there be much advantage to running Soyshield over Neutra in the diesel fuel? Am hoping the Neutra can clean up the rings to some extent!
I'll be interested to see how this works. I have an Oliver 770 Diesel that was somewhat neglected for a few years prior to my acquiring it(bought from family member). Drained the old oil out of it and it was fuel contaminated and obviously had been in the motor for some time. Has Rotella 15-40 in it now. That made a noticable difference in the sounds coming from the motor (for the better). I'd like to do a clean/flush, but I don't want to damage any seals.
Neutra is a faster cleaner in the engine and is a bit harsher. Auto-Rx does a slow deep clean and is a natural ester cleaner. In this case I would recommend the Neutra for the fuel and Auto-Rx for the engine. This is from my experience with diesel engines.
The Oliver is probably 50 years old right? I would drop the oil pan and give it a good scrubbing. I took apart an old case of the same vintage that had 3 inches of sludge in the oil pan.
My old boss tells me that Oliver parts are still being made in Brazil.

The tractor was built in the mid 70's...I think dropping the pan probably wouldn't hurt anything but I am sure there isn't 3 inches of crap in there--its had good quality HDEOs its entire life and regular changes. Should I clean the pan prior to doing the AutoRX or just wait til it is done and get all the gunk out of it?
I've got about 15 hours run with ARX on a 1985 CASE Skidsteer with 4000 hours on it. I'm checking to make sure I could put Neutra in the diesel before fueled it up today.
The ARX is doing a good job cleaning up the rings increasing compression and power. I can see the difference when I raise the bucket. Before I added the ARX the bucket would not lift out of the dirt if I took too large a bite. The engine would just grunt, and I even stalled it once. After about 10 hours of ARX treatment the back of the skidsteer started to lift off the ground when the bucket bite was too much to lift.
The engine vibration is reduced considerably, and the low speed idle is much stronger. The engine did start to surge at mid rpm after about 6 hours of ARX treatment. I have heard of this happening as ARX starts to work.
I did not remove the pan as this engine has had a very good service history and I don't know much about it mechanically. It had a recent oil change and I have not noticed much color to the oil, just performance from the engine.
I also dumped two bottles of ARX in the hydralics, and one seal that leaked has stopped leaking.
Now I figure it's time to put molecules FP/Neutra mix into the diesel, or maybe straight Neutra. It's a 15 gallong tank, and at 1/4 tank I it'll take 10 gallons to fill.
