Neflected Trans After Trans Flush

My fiance has a 97 cavalier with 156k on the ticker. I did a pan drop and filter change to the trans about 2 months ago when it started to slip. It's then that I found out she had never ever serviced her automatic trans! Shortly after the pan drop, the rpms started to climb and the trans started slipping every 3-4 days. Well I added Auto RX and had that in for about 1200 miles and then took it to get a "power purge" trans flush at AAMCO Transmission and now the trans seems to be running great.

I have heard of some old trans crap out soon after a trans flush. It has been three days since my trans flush, when will I know if I am in the clear?

well, hopefully you didn't have a solvent ran through it ..as none was needed..as you had the ARX in it...if you had a solvent through it....maybe as little as 1000 miles or less...otherwise ...hey ...it could go anytime ...and it is noones fault but your fiances for going 156K without a change ......

now drop that pan and replace the filter again.
dont drive it anywhere you cant afford to have it towed from for a few thousand miles.tell your fiance to save up for an overhaul too.most cases where a problem causes you to play maintainance catch up its already too late.
but sometimes you get lucky.

It seems to be running trouble free as of today. I believe we have close to 300 miles on it after the flush and no ill effects.

Flushes don't cause ill effects.
Previous lack of maintenance does.
If anything, you extended the life of the transmission with the flush.
If it does fail in the future with the new fluid, it would've failed earlier without the flush.

So is it just a myth that flushes create a ton of sediment that clogs and kills old transmissions?

if there is a lot of sediment in the system other than in the pan its at deaths door anyway.
lack of maintainence kills transmissions.
trying to play catch up at the first sign of trouble causes folks to flush them and when it fails anyway the flush gets the blame.
