Need to replace the rear brake calipers on my Saab

I need to replace the rear brake calipers on my Saab 9-5. There's a short approx 12" section of hose from the caliper to a fixed pipe. It looks like the hose connects straight into the calipers with some type of tapered thread fitting (no banjo bolts).

I guess I will need to screw the new calipers onto the brake hose. Does this make sense? It looks like to brake hose is basically fixed and will not spin...

Do the new calipers come with the hoses? Some newer Ford models the calipers some with the hose installed and you can't get them separate.

No the hoses are a separate part ($10 aftermarket $25 OEM). The original hoses appear in good shape. Unfortunately the caliper pistons are sticking due to corrosion.

If that's really how they go you can start unthreading the hose however (sounds like a vise grips would be good) then unbolt the caliper and spin the whole thing counterclockwise... enough to do it.

Naturally you don't want the hose all twisted when you get it back together.

Haven't had to do that on my '03 Aero, so no specific advice. Just some general advice - go to www.saabnet.com and ask this question on the 9-5 board. I've saved hundreds, possibly thousands, of dollars due to advice I've gotten there.

Just stay away from Cardone's Calipers. Mine look worse after 4 months of CA sun than the 15 year old factory calipers. I purchased a pair of front calipers and each caliper used a different bleeder screw as well. Great quality, right?

Happened to me once when I did my friend's brake. The pad smoke up nicely within 2 blocks of city driving.
