Need a 28" tire in the size of 255/55/17 for Buick Roadmaster wagon.

Seems it's an odd size, there are so few available.

I found a winter tire in that size, Hak, which is supposedly the best, but also need a summer tire.

TireRack has this Pirelli tire, reviews are so-so, not sure what to think. That's about all I have been able to find.

Have you considered going with a slightly different size but still close to the OEM diameter? For example, there are a ton of tires in size 235/60/17. A lot cheaper, too.

yeah, I did but 255 handles better than 235 in my experience.

I have 245/50/17 now and even that I thought handled worse than 255. That tire is less than 27" and really too small for the Roadmaster wagon.

I hear that you should get better MPG with 235.

Gas mileage and ride of 235/60-17 is better than 255/55-17, for dry road handling 255/55-17 is better but wet road is different story.

For 50 series tire, you may want to go up to 275/50-17 to get about 28" diameter.

I hear on the MPG part.

I decided to get 255/55/17 for the summer and 235/60/15 for the winter. I am now trying to decide which rims to get. Thinking about caprice 9C1 rims.

The problem with 275 is it might not fit in the rear wheel well in the Roadmaster wagon.
