Need some help from the Apple guys - Iphone 14 Pro v. 16 Pro

Go to an Apple Store or some other place that has usable iPhones on display and compare them. The cameras on the pro versions are definitely better.
The 120hz screen, on the other hand, I’m not sure of. But those are the two major differences I think.

Thanks - good info. I tried Target and a franchise Verizon store the other day - neither had working phones.

Nearest apple store is 40 minutes unfortunately - I suppose I could try Best Buy.

I upgraded Labor Day from the XR to an unlocked 13 for $572 purchased at Best Buy. Camera both still and video are superb. Good solid device type c charging is no deal breaker for me I have a drawer full of lightening cables

Thanks folks - appreciate all the comments. My current phone was an apple refurb they gave me as a warranty replacement at the apple store. (They warrantied a refurb I originally bought on ebay - which they didn't have to do - so they earned a customer). I may have gotten lucky, but it has worked out great.

Most of my photos / videos are icloud now, unlike years past where storage was a major issue.

My one potential gripe is the photo button on the 16 (possibly pro model only?) - some reviews say it is easy to trip by mistake.

I think my choice is down to a 16 base or 16 pro.
I'm a week into my journey with the 16 Pro. I bought a case from ESR (I use ESR Magsafe chargers in our cars) and it shields the button pretty well.

For me, the button isn't a deciding factor either way. Yes, it brings up the camera if I press it. (And I think it can be configured for double press IIRC) Old muscle memory still has me looking for the camera app to take photos.

The phone is a bit bigger than my 15 Pro, it does have better battery life.

Don't judge the battery life until a few days after update and migration as I believe the phone is still doing some behind the scenes housekeeping when you first set it up.

After a few days, it seems to use less battery just sitting around.

It was time …
😉

Get one that is Ryzen powered. And gone are the days of using an Otterbox case. They utterly cheapen it out by notching the side of the case for the camera button instead of recessing just the button area. There are two cases aside from the Apple cases with capacitive cover buttons. I have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T MagFit (the Apple clear case leaves the bottom unprotected) and an Encased belt clip holster that works with this case.

Only needs a K&N sticker to unlock super speed now!

I recently went from an iPhone 14 Pro Max to an iPhone 16 Pro Max because I wanted the Apple Intelligence functionality in iOS 18.1. Only the iPhone 15 and 16 support it.

If this isn’t a feature set you need, the 14 is still a really good, fast phone. The 16 is more future proof though.
