Need some advice about Win7 email

Just bought a new Laptop with win-7 for SIL. Now trying to set it up and transfer all her old files+apps from very old win-xp machine. Most stuff I can reinstall and transfer data. I'm stuck with Outlook express. She knows nothing about email clients, I know nothing about OL-X. Apparently OL-X has been replaced with something called live mail. Can this be made to look like OL-X?

No, but the interface is quite simple.

It cant look identical, but its easy to use. I help a ton of customers move from win xp using outlook xpress to windows 7 using live mail and they seem to understand it and they are older people. Showing them windows 8 however takes a long time LOL.

Live Mail seems to have annoying issues. I have been using it for 2 years but am now trying Thunderbird and I like it better. Thunderbird is from Mozilla (Firefox).

What was her old email client? IMAP or POP?

Ok, it don't have to look identical, I just need to make it function in as simple a way as possible. I have the two systems side by side with my laptop nearby. I'll try to get the account working, I'm sure I'll have questions.

I've used several email clients over the years, Right now I use Thunderbird.

Wife and I went from Outlook express on XP system to Live Mail on Windows 7. Live Mail is easy to use and after a couple of days of learning the new icons and where to click to do tasks like print an e-mail you will be old pros at using it.

It gets better.. SIL says the printer wont work. Old compaq laptop has only 2 usb ports. The one the printer is plugged into is dead. The other one will work with the mouse, but nothing else. And, of course, the touch pad is dead............

Yikes!

Now I'm setting up a wired xp to wireless w7 network through a el-cheepo router.

I can do this, I know I can.

Maybe pray for me..................

Well shucks, after a while things got worse. Then, while scratching my left ear and thinking, what next? I looked up just in time to see the screen flash and turn blue. My first ever BSOD with WIN-7. I just sat there, finally, after several tries, it recovered itself and posted this msg.

The moral of this sad tale is, never help family. Well, it's my wifes family. Mine is worse.

OBTW: I did a system restore back to last week, back to where it was before we left home.....

7e's are usually driver related or maybe even ram issues from my experience.

I would run memtest and sfc/ scannow and see what comes up.
