Need recommendations for clamshell bearing puller

I'm fine with spending a couple hundred $$ on one, but if a Vevor is built just as well as the Rigid Axle then I don't mind saving $100...

I don't know what is good, but I also want the tool to work, not tear up bearings or be of low quality.

Will be used mainly for pinion and carrier bearings

I’m looking for the same. There’s one one FB Marketplace in my area that supposedly is new. It doesn’t look new but this type won’t hurt the bearings like a traditional shell type bearing remover can.

I've had the Vevor one in my cart on Amazon for a while now.
It seems that it's the same one as the more expensive yukon one.

I wish I had it once before, and after not having one, I'm going to opt to purchase one. I hear what you are saying, but I do plan on using it a good handful of times.

Vevor sketchy in general. I think it's Den of Tools? who has several vids about lawsuits against them.

That said I've got the DuraTough? which might be the same Chinese factory -- who knows. It's worked for a couple jobs (shrug)

I may have answered my own question. If you select the 1-star reviews on Amazon and look at the pics, it seems the consensus in the last year or so is the top of the tool breaking off where the main bolt threads into the top. Looking at the more expensive Rigid Axle version, there is clearly a difference in the top where the weld is.

With all the forces involved, and my return date will likely exceed 30 days, I think I am going to excercise caution not for the possible return, but for safety.

Rigid Axle version on left, Vevor on right, the Rigid looks like it was done right. Maybe the quality of where Vevor sources their products went down recently and there are too many knockoffs around, but I don't want one of these blowing apart in my face either.

I can only tell you Vevor seems to be especially bad about looking at a product and creating a facsimile of the thing -- Potemkin Villages essentially.

That said, I have their case spreader, although I've yet to use it. I may be in for a surprise when I finally try.....
