How do I remove this connector from its attachment to the casing?
It has a sliding mechanism in the back with a small deterrent but nothing that can be unclipped
Do I simply force it?
Which way does it slide out? Towards the wires?

Thanks

Force it forward, away from the wires.

It is just sitting on that little T shaped bit of molded plastic.

It makes sense, the T holds it in place so that the mating connector can be quickly attached, and so this is designed to resist movement when the other connector is pressed into it.

You going to have to pull that white lock out first.
No, that white lock captures the other (male) plug end of the connector. The OP is asking how to unclip the female connector from the large assembly.

You will need to depress the "small deterrent" wedge with a pocket screwdriver or small pick while sliding the gray plug to the left side.

Slide it to the left side away from the wire direction.

Yes. It should move to the left off of the clips molded into the gray box. It may take some pressure to overcome the detents. The little white clip has nothing to do with it.
