Need help in trying to wire a 4 pin connector to my 98 Nissan Frontier. I bought a Hopkins taillight converter from advance auto and wired per instructions. I am having trouble getting the turn signals to work right. They will work when the head lights are not on but not with them on. They will also work when the brakes are applied and the brake lights are on. Thought I might be having a ground issue so I tried running a ground wire right from the negative side of the battery but that didn't help. I'm not sure what to try next. Any Idea's what I'm doing wrong ?

thanks

Are you trying this with your trailer hooked up or a DVM. I would test it with one of those test adapters or a DVM and make sure the converter is working or not working. I might guess the converter has some diodes in it to only allow voltage to flow one direction when combining some of the wires in the car. Maybe one of those is bad.

I tested all the wires with a circuit tester so I know I have the right wires. I spoke to advanced last night and they think the converters bad but don't know how to test it. I also have a nissan wiring schematic and the colors match. I just don't want to have to rip it out and install another one and have the same problems.
