It's an 'older school' design of engine, that calls for a thicker 5w30. Maxlife 10w30 sounds just about perfect.

Yes, the OHC is old design, but this is supposed to have the SOHC per the VIN code (8th digit is K, which is 4.0 SOHC flex fuel). I looked it up here:

I am not keen on the long chain snaking all over the front of the engine, but it does have gobs of power. I better pop the hood and see for sure.
Nope, keeping the '95 F150, but am tempted if there was a good deal on a clean Ranger pickup (or GMC Sonoma), 4-banger with manual transmission, I would be tempted. Yeah, it would be like cultur shock from the big block six to a 4 banger, but then I could run Redline Oil and rev the wheeee out of it. Fuel mileage improvement would be helpful. Big six is 14-15 avg. Of course the way I plan to drive a 4 banger probably would not result in much improvement.
