I have a craftsman with a 20hp kohler courage engine. The number on the stock filter is 25 050 27 and I am trying to find a cross reference for an easier to find filter. Any suggestions?

I've got the 19 horse Courage, 20 horse uses the same. You can use a Wix 51394, Purolator 14476, Supertech 3614....so on. It's the same filter on several Toyota Engines. I use the same filter on my 500 hp Supra!
Are you sure it's an 07? I've seen Kohler 5205002's but never an 07. In any event, it'll probably take one of the filters listed in the many threads going on right now - like these:

One of the 3600/3614's will work, a MotorCraft FL400S, Purolator L10241, etc... just be sure they'll physically fit - some of 'em are longer than the OEM. Normally that's not a problem, but it might be in certain applications.

3614 is the exact size, 3600 is a little bigger...
