Sounds like a VW engine to my, tsi is engine type, the rest is engine code. What is a, "tsi ea888.3"?
What are you unsure about exactly?Who has a decent oil filter for tsi ea888.3? I would use fram ultra but not sure about the quality of their paper cartridge filters, all I can say is that the spin on filters are of excellent quality.

+1I like the Mann, Mahle, or Hengst filters.
Whatever dealer oil filter was put in the car when new, I haven't used this car much before i left and has been sitting for six months. What have you BEEN using?
There's been at least one case here on the newer Ultra.Fram filters are perfectly good, don't think I've ever seen their cartridge filters be torn/split open.
A quality built filter to start with helps limit that chance which is probably why they're asking. All that matters with an oil filter is that it doesn't fail.
I think i remember it, believe it was a canister filter. The cartridge filters are sturdier. There's been at least one case here on the newer Ultra.

I looked at a MG for the above application at the store and it was made in Vietnam, I passed. RA has Hengst for $7.50.Purolator w/spec sheet or Microgard from Oreilly's, Select filters at Advance Auto that are Premium Guard made.
Hengst for this application is likely made in China. At least they were a couple years ago when I was buying them.I looked at a MG for the above application at the store and it was made in Vietnam, I passed. RA has Hengst for $7.50.
