Looking for a cheap automatic wagon type of car.
This is going to be a spare car that we can use as a workhorse to carry stuff in. The plan for the car is to be a spare car for my mother and possibly shuffle this into our fleet if a car was to go down. I wanna be in the ballpark of $3500. I can fix all little things and MAYBE knock out a simple timing belt.
1. all subaru wagons. legacy,outback, forester. They are all going to be 150k but the headgasket is what worries me. They seem to have rust issues.
2. Focus. Fair amount in my area. Know nothing of america cars, they seem cheap to fix looking at commmon part failures.
3. Matrix/Vibe. Dont know of many in my price range of i would love to get this because it will get better MPG then the wagon if i was covert it into a winter beater.
Thoughts on these cars or anything car i've overlooked. The AUTO trans is a MUST and a hatch of some type is another. I ruled out SUV's because i believe they cost more to upkeep or they are overpriced and bad MPG. I want to have like a 22+ mpg car.
