Hi guys, need your take on my routine. 2010 commander 5.7 here. I use PU 5w-20 with mopar filters. I do about 2000 miles in 5 months. 2-2 mile trips pr day with one long highway run once every week or 2 weeks, so most of use on the oil is short trips. 4.5 months into the oci the oil still looks clean. Do you think I can go 6 months on this oil or change it out sooner? I'm leaning towards shortening the oci to 4 or 5 months simply due to all of these short trips. What do you guys think?

The Hemi does well on that oil, or so I've read. Have you had a UOA done?

By all means if you are worrried, change it out early. But as always, you cannot go simply by what your oil looks like.

Because of ultra short trips daily, even with once long highway drive a week or 2, I would do a UOA at 6 month without changing the oil. Look at UOA result to see if you can change oil once a year at around 6-7k miles or shorter time/mileage if high fuel dilution.

Your using PU...and your considering shortening your OCI?

IMO....if you shorten your OCI....using PU is overkill and a waste of an excellent oil, $$$, and time.

But this is what I would do....continue to use PU or Pennzoil Platinum....with ONE YEAR OCI's. Your mileage for the year (based on what you said) should be about 5000 to 6000 miles or so. Both PU and PP will have plenty reserve to carry you through a year.

Also...you might also change over to a Purolator PureOne filter.
