I work occasionally with this guy.

He and his wife have built a killer hillclimb beetle.

Actually sounds like it runs on all four.

The guy is a very serious thinker.

Still has the trailing arm front suspension. The struts handle better, but weigh more.

He describes most hillclimbs as an uphill drag race with a few corners. Seems to work, as he took a second off his own lap record on Saturday.

Dunno if you've seen the Bathurst track, but Saturday's hillclimb (I missed it) was backwards, up the twisty bit. Sunday's was the right way up the mountain.
