Local story about Navy Seals charged with assaulting a terrorist some additional reports and another

Quote:
NORFOLK, Va. - Congressman Randy Forbes is the latest lawmaker to join the rally of support for three Navy SEALs accused of mistreating the suspected terrorist who masterminded the ambush and killing of four Blackwater contractors protecting a convoy in Iraq. Many legislators on Capitol Hill are asking the Navy to drop its prosecution of the SEALs.

I agree with both of you guys. It is a crying shame! These men should be honored and treated as heros!

I am speechless. We are headed down the drain.

When I see stuff like this, I feel like I wasted 11 years getting underway missing funerals, holidays, weddings and getting a divorce because I was never home. I feel like sometimes no one cares about America anymore. They only care about what everone else thinks.

its the pacifists and hippies that are in control of this country now.

coming from a military family that has many family members overseas right now this is pathetic.

I feel sorry and hope everything clears up for these seals.

AND FOR CRYING OUT LOUD ALL HE DID WAS PUNCH HIM IN THE STOMACH. WOW

I hope lawmakers from both parties put pressure to have them released.

So let me get this straight; our military gets in trouble if they accidentally hurt civilians because the bad guys hide behind them, and they get in trouble if they hurt actual terrorists. Why are we there again?

alledgedly he punched the bad guy. The case is still on going.

i hear these things,as a canadian, and it makes me want to puke. the brave soldiers put their lives on the line (nato, or not) every day, and this cr** happens. over a "punch in the stomach". what about the atrocities that are not reported on cnn, because it's not "politically correct"? i feel for guys like ls1mike -- brave soldiers who fight and die -- and seals are charged with "assaulting a terrorist". AMAZING. the political correctness cr** has to stop, in canada, and the u.s.

I did some work with a bunch of Canadian Submariners. Great bunch of guys. Was only for a few weeks but it made me realize, Submariners, Military folks in general share a common bound. Was one of my favorite experiences, that I can talk about in mixed company anyway, while I was in the Navy. I would still be in if I had not gotten sick.

All I can say is I don't want to shut the PC folks or the Hippies down. That is part of the reason I served, to allow everyone to say what they want when without fear of being beat down. Sometimes it should come down to the good of the many out weigh the good of few. Here in America these days it seems we are doing just the opposite, worry about the few and let the many figure out how to deal with it.

Edit: Didn't mean to get off track. I feel for those guys. I hope it gets thrown out of court. If they get convicted, it will only scare everyone else from doing their job to the best of their ability.

The term "falling on your sword" comes to mind here. I find it more honorable to be asked to do so ..and not have it assigned to you in shame for the sake of needing a sacrificial lamb. The same Seal would face certain death with no more than a fighting chance.

gary -- great post.hopefully, a seal is not sacrificed as "a sacrificial lamb". again, these stories make me puke -- but in the real world -- somebody has to wear it. ***[censored] politics.

Why we are the means little, the administration in charge will do what it wants. You can hate a war and not agree with it, but still support the Folks who have to fight it. There is a difference.

We never went there because of WMD's, we went there because Sadam refused to meet the United Nation demands.

May haps we should return the country to the rape rooms, pushing people off of buildings, the cutting off of tongues
and all the other crimes against humanity. That should make all the lib's feel just dandy.

Furthermore it has never been proven that there wasn't any WMD's, we just never found any. WE never found all the money that the guy had when he parachuted out of the plane over Washington or Oregon, dos that mean he never had the money?

This like folks asking why we can't find Osama Ben Ladin, how many years did it take us to find the guy in No./So Carolina that had bomed or killed all the aboration clinics. And he was right here in the good old U.S.A.

BTW God Bless Our Troops and may these Navy Seals be recongnized as the hero's that they are.
