I was talking to a John Deere factory rep. today and he brought up the rubber shortage that started last year and that it is expected to continue this year:

The JD rep. said they had difficulty at times last year getting some rubber products and had to shut down assembly lines occasionally, waiting for parts.

Tire prices are forcasted to escalate by year's end. Many sources say this is partly due to the growing world economy. Duh!

I wonder if the "golden age" of the U.S.(after WWII) is over and what the future will bring. While we whine about the cost of fuel, many other products are quietly going up in cost exponentially. Sigh.

I've been waiting for the spring closeout deals on dedicated winter tires for next season. Instead of going down, some prices actually went up a few weeks ago!

You can't drive without tires, but you can fly without helmet.

That increase is nothing compared to where food prices are headed.

Considering how frequently I buy tyres versus food, too right.

Warstud has a point 'though.
