NASCAR Clash at the LA Coliseum

My wife and I are going, and we're excited about it.

Racing has been a big part of our 45 year marriage. We've been to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and at this very moment are planning a trip to the 2022 Indy 500. I'd estimate we've been to well over 75 races, at least. Everything from NASCAR to CART to IndyCar to IMSA to SCCA.

Please report back! Cool.

I will. A picture of my 65 year old wife at the 2021 IndyCar Laguna Seca race. Alex Palou's Ganassi car. It was freaking cold that morning!

We absolutely love racing. Even after 45 years of marriage they are still great weekend "dates". How many 65 year old women like hiking around noisy, dusty race tracks? I am so lucky!

I'm jealous.

Why not? If we all like the same things life would be pretty **** boring...
See, attitudes like yours are why things are so messed up right now. Attitudes like yours turn simple differences of opinion into divisiveness.

Of course people don't like all the same things. Fair enough. But to dump on things that others like, but you don't, is unnecessary.

As you said in your earlier post you thought all sports are a waste. If I felt the same way as you I wouldn't be on a sports-related sub forum on BITOG. Why do you do that, just to spew your dogma?

I have heard from so many people that don't care about NASCAR that are really into the idea of this race. I might have an extra pair of tickets. Long story, but I now have 4 instead of 2. I have a co-worker with first right of refusal. I also now have an extra pair of tickets for the Xfinity and Cup races at Auto Club Speedway in the Speedway Club section that I forgot I bought 2 years ago.

this might be worth watching... This would be better than the 1-1/2 to 2 mile tracks that are all about fuel mileage. Let's do some short track grass roots racing and see if we can knock some fenders off!

to be fair I haven't watched 100 laps of NASCAR in the last 5+ years... They lost me with stage racing and the political BS. I use to be a very loyal fan and have been to a few races in the past. I was also brand loyal to many sponsors. Now I'd rather watch short track / dirt racing and shop with my wallet not my allegiance to a driver(s).

just my $0.02
wow! Talk about speaking MY mind! You just did it word for word about me and NASCAR.

I been a fan since about 12 years old and feel they totally ruined it the last 10 years or so. NASCAR is not even a ghost of its former self to me. Too many new rules and changes PLUS... As they just kept getting "more woke" they put me to sleep with it. I have even suspected them of controlling the outcome of some races the last few years. They can easily manipulate the last dozen or so laps to the outcome they would like to see for various stupid reasons. YET I will still be in front of a Tv for the Daytona 500. ALL old habits are hard to break!

Edit: I worked with and knew Jimmy Vasser's mother in the late '70s. A nice woman. He was racing quarter midgets at the time. He won the Indy 500 and CART season Championship in 1996 driving for Ganassi.
Started going to the 500 3 years ago. Had a great time every year. Looking forward to this year...
