NAPA synthetic oil

Picked several 5QT jugs of NAPA 0w-20 was on sale. MSDS sheets and bottle say this stuff is made by Valvoline for NAPA.

Anyone familiar with this stuff - not worried about quality just wondering if its "exactly Valvoline" or blended for NAPA with a specific additive pack?

No one on this forum knows the answer to your question.

It's proprietary information of the manufacturer.
Anyone who claims otherwise is kidding themselves and/or fooling you.

They'll try to throw around VOA information but you'll find that they are very close but it's not enough information to confirm for sure.

Not exactly same a Valvoline but close enough IMO. I used a lot of it when it would go on sale and would again if its cheap enough.

You need to be careful if your putting it in your Toyota as Toyota isn't known for longevity.

Even if there was a difference before, it's probably much less now, if at all, mainly due to more stringent standards like the latest d1g2

thanks for the replies, well this is a lease. I maintain it as I own it but don't make love to it. I just follow what meets OE specs.

+1. If it’s D1G2 it’s hard to argue against it. I would chose based on lowest price.

I used it, the NAPA Synthetic. Had absolutely no problems with it. Was on sale at NAPA

Using it now in my Silverado. Been using it for 5 years in other cars as well. No worries here!

NAPA oil, conventional or synthetic are good oils and made by Valvoline. However, after speaking with a Valvoline Oil Rep, they told me that none of the oils that Valvoline blends for others is the same as the Valvoline brand.

I've been using Napa synthetic when I can get it on sale for ~$3/qt for about 10yrs now. I haven't kept a vehicle beyond ~70K miles in longer than that though..

Think of it as a specialty beer brewed by Anheuser Busch that resembles an AB product in taste and appearance. It makes sense they would share the same ingredients, but it would be false to say they are identical.

I've run NAPA syn. to 10k before, but I haven't seen it at $3 lately and have moved on since I'd rather step it up to Castrol Magnatec.

If you can find it at $3, buy a few cases. The fact that they come in quart containers makes the deal even better IMO.
