.....how can I tell if the Wix filter I'm ordering from Rock is the same as the NAPA Gold?

It is exactly the same.

Just drop the first digit from the Wix number to get the Napa number. For example, Wix 51348 = Napa 1348

Napa just puts their own name on it.

Napa silver and Proselect are the lesser quality filters.

Look for the red silicone ADBV.

all "Wix" branded products are "gold" equivalent...

Wix does make different tiers of filters, but the "Wix" branding is only applied to their top tier product.

In Wix or NAPA?

If Wix, there's only one product- the premium one. If NAPA, then look at the number and description. It will say NAPA Gold and have the numbering system as described in the previous post.

The NAPA Silver and Pro Select lines are labeled as such and have a slightly different numbering system (a prefix number added to the 4 digit NAPA number)

Look for the red silicone ADBV.

And do the inverse of tommy's example using Napa's part # as reference.

This applies to every tier of Napa filters and most (if not all) of their products. At least that has been my experience.

Not all NAPA Gold filters have the red/orange silicone ADBV. Some are still the black nitrile.
