I generally run 4000 mile OCI's on my 07 Jeep 3.7.
Last month I took advantage of the Carquest oil change special and stocked up on some Carquest reds. Also have a few purolator classics on hand.

Saw the NAPA gold 40% off sale and was wondering if it is worth it engine protection wise to stock up.

Running a 4000 oci, is there a difference/reason to run the Napa filters instead of the CQ Red's or Purolator classics...or just a waste of money?

I really havent seen any true data that shows different filters extend engine life. I use a highend filter for my own piece of mind. You have good filters in your stash and I feel your GTG
 
The Napa Gold's in my are are $7.36 for part# 1356. With the 40%off, it will be $4.42 without tax. I don't think that it's worth me purchasing since I don't do long oci. I have one jug of synthetic left that I will run to 7.5k so I'll buy one just for that oci. I plan on purchasing some air filters with the 40% off though!

for your oci, stick with what you have. I'm running napaproselect now and will switch back to ST after they are gone.
 
So, does a master pack come with 6 oil filters? If so, a master pack of Napa Gold 1036 filters would be $37.74. With 40% off that should be $22! Great deal! I'm In!!!
 
The NAPA golds are excellent filters, but expensive even with 40 off. I would use Proselects unless they are mexican garbage or STs cheap and excellent for 7k and under. If you are running any long drains over 7k go with a filter with a Silicone adbv, like the NAPA gold.

My 1036 NG are $3.29ea with this sale,hardly say thats expensive, great filter for that money!
 
I also picked up a couple of NG 1036's today, but for $3.35 each. Also, I got a fuel filter for only $7.99/NG 3579. To me it was a pretty good deal because I usually get them at Walmart over the years for about $11(Fram)


This is a pretty good sale. For a friends Jetta VR6 I usually get the O'reilly house brand oil filter for $10.50 because it's the cheapest I have found. But, picked up a NG for $13.49, not bad considering the options. This filter is priced before discount at $31.50!!! (NG1212) Later I found them on Ebay for $4.
 
I will head to my Napa soon. $4 for a very high quality filter isn't too expensive IMO. Sure, I could buy one for $3 and some change, but I think I can splurge the extra $1 for a filter which will last me 6 months. I always get a kick out of you guys -- saying $4-5 is too much for a filter when I can buy one for $3. Do any of you smoke, drink coffee, drink soda, eat candy bars, etc.? Is that extra $1-2 every 3-6 months really going to break you?

I agree $3-5 for a NG is a great buy,quit being so cheap and run a real filter.

My way of thinking also. Spending a few bucks more for a top tier filter isn't going to be noticeable to the bank account. There are so many other things in the world that can be cut back on or done without if it's that much of a financial burden to afford a filter that's a few buck more than the cheapest around.
 
I was at NAPA today ordering a voltage regulator for my truck today. I picked up a 1381 for my truck and a 7082 for the car, PF1177, PF 457. They were both $4-$5. Is it worth the extra buck over STP or Dyno Lube? The 7082 was made in South Korea.

With me it isn't so much spending the money it is getting the most for your buck.
Just the way I am
